We got this as a gift to our 3yo daughter for Valentine’s Day. We were thrilled with the concept as described online. We were excited in our initial handling of the toy. There was grave disappointment when we discovered that the lid to the chocolates does not fit snuggly when the chocolates are fully assembled. This is an unfortunate shortcoming of the product and seems an error in design. Also, a few of the “chocolate” pieces look like they are starting to separate. Even so, both of my kids (3, 1) love this toy and it is very educational. As the description of the product indicates, there is a matching componet to the toy as well as a different colors to work on learning colors. These aspects are particularly great for the 1yo. The 3yo LOVES to play with this toy in a role playing manner. She is still regularly annoyed by the non-fitting lid, tho. For example, as she tries to “give” Mommy and Daddy the box of chocolates, if it tips a little too far while she’s carrying it, the chocolates fall out. My experience with this product makes me feel reluctant to purchase more products from Learning Resources.

We thought this would be the perfect toy to buy our 2.5 year old for Valentine’s Day. She absolutely LOVES it!
There are different 6 different shapes and 6 different colors for the kids to work with. 2 chocolates come with each shape (but are different in color). What is kinda neat to see is one shape is “light” chocolate and the other is “dark” chocolate.
My daughter took right to this toy and absolutely loves taking out all the pieces, putting them back in, matching the tops to the correct shape – very good hand / eye coordination. She doesnt quite get that there are two different types of chocolate (the light vs. dark), but thats okay.
My only flaw with this toy is that the lid – the heart lid – does not fit onto the heart. It does not stay.. snap.. anything, it just doesnt work. My daughter could care less, but it would be nice to have a cover that actually fit so I can easily put this toy in a toy box or upright to take less room.. but as it is right now, we can only lay it down flat to prevent all the chocolates from falling out – the lid is useless.
Overall, excellent toy for a toddler. Highly recommend it.. my daughter loves it!

This is great for learning colors, we play memory with this toy, and they can learn thier shapes, plus this is great pretend food for our play kitchen. The only complaint that I have it the candy box , the lid does not securly stay on to hold the items in place when storing, but this does not affect the function of the toy just my disliking for storage purposes.

My girls (2 & 1) got this toy as a Christmas gift and they seem to really enjoy it. The “tops” to the chocolates come off to reveal a bright colored “center” so it’s fun to put the tops on all the chocolates and play a color guessing game. Not only can my girls learn colours better, but this challenges their shape sorting skills as the pieces are all different geometric shapes. I also found that this can have a little more “play life” as my girls get older because they can just use them for pretend play. After that though, it gets to be a pain the butt. Since all these chocolates basically divide in half, there are tons of pieces to have to pick up and put together and this is constant if you have little ones who play with this like I do. The other problem is when you put all these little chocolates together and put them in their little spaces, the dad gum lid doesn’t close properly on the thing! So my kids are constantly spilling this thing over when they carry it. Honestly, I feel like I’m constantly picking this thing up and putting it together over and over again. That annoys me.

I saw this toy in a special education catalog and loved how realistic it looked. I read the reviews that indicated that the lid not fitting securely was a problem but bought it anyway. This is a great color/shape matching toy, but it is really frustrating that when you get all the candies in the box the lid does not fit. It makes it really difficult to store away and it makes my daughter mad that the lid keeps falling off. I am amazed that Smart Snacks has not fixed this problem considering all of the poor reviews. Too bad about the lid because it is a super cute toy. As long as you understand what you are getting it is still a great toy.
